President's Letter - February 2010
2009 |
Hello, Artisans by the Sea,
We kicked off our new year of artistic gatherings with a wonderful presentation by Emma Wright. There were sixteen members and two guests who shared some delicious food, wine, coffee and desserts while seeing the life's work of a master artist. Thank you, Emma for sharing your story and pictures, and Katherine Hunter for your expert technical assistance. Beth and Sam Campell's big screen TV and comfortable home were a perfect setting for an evening that was memorable.
Brenda, who is now our Vice President, is planning a year of new programs for all of us to enjoy. Please remember that everyone can--and should--- contribute to this effort. It is a big job to come up with new and interesting classes each month, and the best resources are right here in our group. Volunteer to lead a class and share your ideas, insights and knowledge with the rest of us. The success of this club can be credited to the cooperative efforts of its members. If you don’t want to lead a class, suggest an interesting topic, and we will pull it together.
We will continue to alternate our meetings between Beth's house in Scripps Ranch and Melanie's studio in Chula Vista. Our months at Melanie's will be February, June, August and November. We will take the month of July off. We are so fortunate to have these two generous members welcome us into their space.
Julie Young has agreed to take on the responsibilities of the Treasurer’s position. She is experienced in this role, having done it before. This is the time of year that dues are to be paid, so come prepared to give Julie $15.00 at the next meeting, or if you don’t plan to attend, mail it to her at:
1080 Golden Trail, Vista, CA 92081. Thank you Julie for taking on this important job.
Kara Wald will continue overseeing our website and our membership information. She has successfully transferred the web domain back to us. One of our former members, Shelley Schwartz had generously maintained and paid for that maintenance for the past several years. You can visit and stay informed at: www.artisansbythesea.com or www.artisansbythesea.org, either one.
